The Porsche 911 has become many things over the years. Faster, wider, more capable but also much more complicated. Drive a modern 911 and you’ll be blown away by what it can do, but you’ll never mistake it for a simple car. The amount of adjustments and settings you can change nowadays requires a manual the size of a dictionary.
In the early nineties this was quite the opposite. Especially when Porsche introduced the 964 Carrera RS N/GT. I found this very special car during the Techno Classica Salon in Germany this year.



No touchscreens, no driver modes, no excuses. Just less weight, more noise, and a flat-six hanging out the back. The RS N/GT wasn’t created to be a collector’s item. It was essentially a road-going version of the 964 Carrera Cup racer, built for people who wanted something as close to a race car as possible without needing a trailer. Porsche produced just 290 examples, making it one of the rarest and most desirable air-cooled RS models today.
