If Darth Vader ever gave up the Empire and took up track days, he’d drive this: the DP Motorsport 911 WTL “Black Champ” 3.6. A black-on-black symphony of wide arches, race exhaust, and pure, unfiltered Porsche aggression.
This isn’t your average 911 with a body kit and a dream. No, the “Black Champ” is built using a factory fresh Porsche WTL chassis from 1994. WTL stands for Werks Turbo Look meaning it’s got the wide hips of a Turbo, but without the actual turbo. It’s like dressing like a heavyweight boxer and still being able to dance like Muhammad Ali.

DP Motorsport, the mad geniuses from Overath in Germany, have draped it in lightweight glass fiber panels, including a bonnet and rear spoiler inspired by the Porsche SC/RS from 1984. It’s lean, mean, and looks like it’s about to punch a GT3 in the face.
Under the rear lid sits a 3.6-liter flat-six, tuned to deliver 300bhp. That might not sound like much in a world where 1000bhp seems the norm, but remember this thing weighs about as much as a feather in a vacuum. 1020kg without a full tank of gas to be exact. Thanks to DP’s obsession with weight reduction, it’s got H&R springs, a race exhaust, and a diet that would make a supermodel cry.

Inside, it’s all lollipop racing seats, lightweight carpeting (yes, in the world of DP Motorsport that is a thing), and a custom roll bar. No infotainment. No cup holders. Just the smell of petrol, leather, and fear. It’s a place where you go to drive, not to check your emails.

I just love the meaty tire look on these older Porsches. The extra sticky Michelin TB5 Semislick 225/50 in the front and 285/40 in the rear are wrapped around a set of Fuchs in 15″. Stopping power is a bit more modern using Porsche 930 Turbo sets.
The “Black Champ” isn’t trying to be modern. It’s not chasing Nürburgring lap times or TikTok likes. It’s a restomod rebel, a tribute to the days when driving was visceral, loud, and slightly terrifying.
If you ever see one in the wild, don’t blink. Just salute, whisper “respect,” and hope the owner lets you sit in it, just once.

DP Motorsport history;
Founded in 1973 by Ekkehard Zimmermann in Overath, near Cologne, the company began by designing chassis for Formula V and Super V racecars. Their breakthrough came through collaboration with Kremer Racing, leading to the development of the Porsche 935 K3, which famously won the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans with Klaus Ludwig.
DP Motorsport is best known for its Porsche 935 replicas, especially the DP 935 I and II, which featured aggressive slantnose designs, wide bodies, and race-ready performance. These cars were popular in the U.S. and Middle East during the 1980s.
